Your daily dose of farm
On any given day, at Two Owl Farm, you will hear wild turkeys, notice tender leaves emerging on persimmon trees and, if you are lucky, smell the petrichor hanging in the foggy morning air.
For most Americans, 93% of our time is spent indoors (87% inside and 6% in a car). The question then goes beyond how do we change this number to how do we resensitize ourselves and our relationship to the deep wonder, beauty and interconnectedness of nature? For the New Village School, it's simple: we spend over 20% of our education outside. Two Owl Farm is part of this equation.
As a living lab, full of possibilities for experiencing and applying mathematical and scientific phenomenon ---and as a location for inspiration for prose, poetry, music, theater and art ---Two Owl Farm requires each child to become active in sustaining a delicate balance of engagement with the plant and animal families. At Two Owl Farm, the New Village School education is strengthened in the hands, minds and hearts of our next generation. Two Owl Farm is the seeding ground for giving a little love, having a little hope and making this world a little better. Here, we try a little more, each day we work harder than before and we do what we must do together. Here, we care.
What's in a name? Two Owl Farm was named after the two barn owls who live in the palm trees on the farm. In the day, you might see them peering down, hidden in their nests in the palm fronds. At dusk, you may catch glimpse as they glide across the sky.
